Here is a close up of that leg install to squash any doubts which leg its soldered too.

I have tried several different clk wires, various lengths and routes. i have tried a tight ground wire wrapping as well. all to no avail, thanks so much for your input! I do appreciate suggestions.

And Yes idog I usually order these chips in batches of 50, and i have done this several times. so instead of laughing  (I'm glad that I could in a  small part make your day more jovial) perhaps you could chime in on this help forum with actual help.

I think he was amused at your 19 wire install (13+4=17)...

I have NTSC wii with single line one d2c. Loaded 2.0 firmware on argon 250 chip, get a blue light, disc spins and then the chip resets over and over. DOes this for backup and original. It could be an error flashing the chip though cause I get about 50 write erros before it writes successfully.

I agree that infectus should make a NTSC and PAL bin. Having to disconnect R to G each time sucks.

Fotunatelly, I only have 7 Argon's left. They are 125's and I have added the SPI myself.

I have monitored this forum since the D2C2 was spotted and took the plunge to try one of my old ARGON's with the final firmware.

Flashed it
Programmed it
Fitted it
Wired it
Tried it

F**k all !!!

Drive acts dead, occasionally spins but does not even load the DVD.

Swapped it for a D2pro and worked straight away

I have another drive that has 2 lines on the D2C chip, just going to see if I get different results with this one.

PS wired clock direct on chip leg. Serial nukber LEH188***

and as for chiming in.. I have switched to D2Pro9-V2 a few weeks ago, tired of waiting for buggy fw. No issues whatsoever (although I'm one of the few lucky ones I think) so far.  The only tips I can give you is what I always do with my D2Pro install : wrap the clock wire with a ground wire (attached to 2 separate ground points) and make sure it doesn't touch other wires. Also, i ALWAYS use the 3 bottomside via points instead of soldering to the legs.

Also, the Argon places for the pads is simply miserable. It's almost (?) undoable to connect all the wires without crossing a few here and there.

So yeah.. I LOL-ed. It's all I can do at Infectus' attempts for a clockless troublefree D2C2 solution. I stopped taking that seriously some time ago

Fair enough idog, thanks for you input. I did try the ground wire wrap connected at both sides.

hmm, I too have switched to d2pro because i need a working solution for my customers now.  :-/

Anyone want to purchase some unopened argon 250's let me know, they did come with the spi installed from the factory.

Oh and I double up the ground and 3v wires making a total of 19, sorry I guess I should not count them, but I do cut 19 wires for the "17" wire install heh.

I have noticed it may be the chips that are the problem, I have had no probs with the chips that have 0744 stamped on it but the chips with 0644 that have X212 stamped on seem to not work. It's as though it needs more power to run which in turn would cause more noise. They can't even be programed without running 3v and ground into the chip first.

After programming the X212 chips just keep resetting, blue light goes on and off and drive keeps clicking. no probs with the normal 0744 chips though, same wiring, same firmware just replaced chips.

Every D2C2 now works for us, first time, no issues what-so-ever

Did have a 125 with a faulty SPI, but once changing over the chip - worked perfectly.

Only thing I can see is that you can't turn the console on pressing eject (no big deal)

I would honestly say, the Argon is now better than the D2PRO.

I have installed about 50 D2PRO's on D2C2 (about 3 had complaints about eject issue - swapped with argon 3.2 and 3.4)

Installed about 60 Argon SPI (5 problematic with CLK - only 1 came back from customer / 4 completely faulty chips)

I must say, I'm neither here nor there when it comes to choosing one over the other.  I recommend Argon over the D2PRO simply because they are that tiny bit cheaper and the support from Infectus, I have found to be fantastic.

As we do alot of wholesale sales to other installers, we find supporting the Argon a little easier as we have run into just about every issue known to man so we can support them

They are cheaper ? what are you talking about ?
Today D2Pro price is about 25% lower then Argon so if I order 400 ARGONs I can buy 500 D2Pro for same price but I am waiting for Argon2 prices , I very hope they will drop the price same like D2Pro did , I have about 40 Argons now and some 35 WII D2C and 50 WII D2C2 , I am useing 1.8 firmware for D2C and waiting for Argon2 for D2C2 if price not going down I will go for D2Pro.

How could it be better than D2PRO when no one could get it work on NTSC machines (I havn't read any claim of it working so far)? and no dvd update yet so really how do you come up with that conclusion? not trying to discredit the Infectus team but indeed I do appreciate their effort. The matter of fact is they are not up there yet as compared to other teams.
