Serial flash is necessary because instead patch in real time the data on the BUS, like do right now ARGON 17 wires and D2PRO, the WASABI inject in a serial port of controller the complete hacked code...
In this mode, we need more space because is not only few data to patch, the whole code is injected in the microcontroller...

What methode would then be better/easer/saver (beter backup disk handeling):
Patching the code in realtime
or
Uploading the hacked code

We are happy to announce that in development is a new cool firmware for ARGON/INFECTUS, a more superior firmware than the current "9 wires wasabi" competitor. See the unbelivable functions that will be supported:...
hehe...nice Job

This is disappointing. The 17 wire install is not even that old...

Then keep the 17 wire install. There is no need to change, unless you particularly want the 9 wire FW.

It seems as though the 9 wire firmware will be superior though...

I'm not sure it will be much better, except maybe the DVD update option. Not the that using the Injectus is difficult.
Anyway, if the install is anything like the Wasabi install, it'll be a damned site easier than the current install.

Even though i've been one of those who hated the argon since the day I mass installed only to find out it had buggy firmware, I kind of am glad, and predicted, this would happen.
Firstly, grats and job well done but,
if the firmware proves to freeze or cause problems that needs more components, i'll boycott the chip and never look at it again. Currently using the d2pro, but if this proves to be working well, will switch over to it. Currently installing over 20 d2pros on machines a week 5 working days.
Again, great work, just what I expected, and lets hope it only requires one try to make this worth while.

If you mass install a newly released chip then you take the risk yourself a bit.. strange to blame it all on infectus while they solved all problems in a couple of weeks. Not the same as your beloved wiikey/d2ckey/d2pro team isn't it...Did you abandon d2ckey when you "mass installed" their crappy pre release chips? Did you abandon wiikey when they didn't have audio fix while promised,or don't have support for original dl discs?
Anyway enough of this nonsense. Would actually be time for those d2pro ass lickers to start think of the possibilities of infectus and their continued hard work.
humm.. I posted as a means to complement not to start a fight, but if an ass wants a fight, he'll get one.
well, wiikey works 100% without freezing, audiofix.. was for the gamecube, the wii is meant to play wii games, if it has backwards compatibility, that's a bonus. Most of the people who got their wii modded didn't mind the gamecube audio fix because they said.. the wii was meant to play wii games, if I want to play gamecube games, i'll do it on my gamecube.
The argon team stated that they fixed the freezing problems with the argon, when infectus users experienced it, clearly this was not the problem.
As for the d2ckey, mass installing was kind of hard as 31 wires takes some time.. and they stated themselves that there were only one version of the chip, I never jumped on any bandwagons like yourself, I install for customers to use, and when you a shit load of customers calling your house ever fucking day asking if it's done yet for 2 fucking weeks.. it gets tiring. I'm sure you have never experienced it.
D2pro works like it was intended, no firmware needed or whatnot because it works.. what's the fucking point of fixing something if it works? And all the modchips are the same aside from "update" functions. It's true that a team that constantly updates is a true team. But.. think about the installer and the end user? 100 installs, 100 times for every firmware update.. each update takes around 15 minutes to finish(reprogram). It really is a pain in the ass.
What I wrote was to complement the team and their hard work, then a half ass installer wannbie comes and flames me? woot? u feel good? Glad you do, get on with it. Never had the intention to come here and post just to flame the infectus team, but the person questioning seems like one of those ps3 fanboys who never change their views.
P.S. I never abandoned the wiikey, i've been installing them since the start, and continue to install them.
I ditched the d2ckey due to the wire counts, but the performance is superior.
using the d2pro because i've been using them since the beginning and never had problems..
the point is.. if you are a installer, who handles wiis everyday, you go for what works, not what is said to work. But of course you would never understand that, you've been bashing other chips from the very start and never change your point of view, if psx scene was up I'd post some quotes.

tbh..the installing of the wires (old diagram) is pretty easy...took me 20 minutes to solder 2 boards completly...(usin alternative points)...
if only 9 wires with FW 1.9 i guess everyone should be able to do it in maybe 10-15 minutes...
but it`s nice, that the d2b boards will be supported....

Excuse me for not reading more then the first couple of lines of your txt cuz I'm not interested in a dumb flamewar. I just thought your comments were a little too disrespectfull with all that boycotting crap and big talk.
I just like to put things in perspective. People kept and somehow keep bashing on infectus with strange arguments that apply also on teams they don't abandon. Anyway if you consider your post as a compliment then excuse my reply. Maybe they treat people different from where I live.
@ Oscar: When/where will the spi flash be available?

I agree that the current install isn't difficult, but compared to the Wasabi install points...

I'll just get wasabi because I know it's already there.
Future is a little unpredictable. Get what is best available in the present.
Wasabi did what people thought it's impossible.

LOL...I love seeing shit like that. How do you know it is already there? Have you installed one. Have you tested it with mass Wii/GC games like some of the supporters here have? Finally....do you not understand the principle of Jtag vs DVD update? If so why are you still choosing a chip that cost the same amount and gives you less?
Can't wait for a big update that will close the door on DVD uprade
