Well I don't have a ps3 and haven't kept up with any of it's developments and how the br drive interacts with the kernel in contrary to a normal dvd drive. Like many other's I'm also very curious about these claims from Team infectus. They first anounced big news late february and then it was gonna be late march and still nothing. It does lie in their way to hype a product not finished though.

as ojobenito said in his post the firmware is crypted, hacking the BR Drive firmware will be way more difficult than it was hacking the wii and x360 drive, I hope the Infectus team have something, cause creating this hype about the ps3, bashing other wii modchips, announcing BIG NEWS that doesn't come out in the tentative dates, and all this silence, remembers me paradox and their ps3 loader and that doesn't do any good to the infectus reputation, I've been a Infectus customer since the launch of the first infectus, and I've seen the popularity their work gain not just by what infectus can do, but mostly because of the argon, and also as a customer I don't want to see the team announcing BIG NEWS and deliver nothing but silence, I hope next time they keep their word on the dates and the big news, and if they don't have something working or don't want to share because of the competition, then do not make any unnecessary announcement until you can share or have it working.

PD: I am satisfied with what infectus and argon can do, but I am not comfortable with some things lately.

Yeah their marketing strategy could be a lot better. They loose a lot of customers by the negative tone towards other groups. Also it wasn't the smartest idea to release a product that was allready known to have bugs and wasn't delivering the features it was claimed too.

From OscarHS on a forum thread: (February, 22)
what do you think about a PS3 firrmware on ARGON will be nice to see all WII ARGON DISTRIBUTORS UPDATE THEIR ARGON STOCK AND SELL THEM LIKE A FIRST "DRIVER MOD" FOR PS3 (...) only we have this information and I can only tell that many "shock" news will arrive sooon... veryy sooonn.

From the last news on the main page: (March, 13th)
we remember that in development are other firmwares (like PS3 firmware) for INFECTUS and ARGON, (...) just a .DAT file is necessary to use ARGON in a PS3 in a near future...

Now this is from Arakon (moderator) on a forum thread: (March, 28th)
which will take a long, long time. the ps3 is completely untouched at this time, (...) don't expect anything like that for at least a year, quite possibly more.

So... what should we believe in? "At least a year, quite possibly more" doesn't sound too "SOOOOON, VERY VERY SOOOOOON" to me...    (yeah... whatever...)
Also, if the PS3 is COMPLETELY untouched as they claim... it means they have nothing, because completely is 100% untouched as I understand. If they were making any progress they would say "it's almost untouched" or something like that....
To hype, or not to hype... that is the question.

FWIW, Arakon is not part of team infectus. He's just a very helpful volunteer dedicating his time to moderating the forums. He's already stated this in other posts. If Oscar/Infectus know something about the PS3 they're not sharing with the public, then that's up to them.

With all that being said, I also don't have much confidence in the "PS3 Firmware on Argon", but.. we'll see.

Sorry then for what I said regarding Arakon. Anyway, I suppose he must be in contact and may know something about what's going on with team Infectus.

On the other hand. It's ok they don't share anything to the public, but I think it's not "fair" to build up hype about PS3, tell everybody to buy hundreds of Argons and "stay with them" (I am with them anyway as I told before), forget other modchips and only focus on Infectus/Argon, and then tell nothing at all. Absolutely nothing, not even one word about the PS3 hype they created on mid-February. That's what I (and more people) don't appreciate.

Team Infectus work on some project's at the same time

1. Wasabus (finished)
2. Wasabus Port to Argon (in progress)
3. Secret Project (in progress)
4. PS3 Solution (maybe - not in progress yet)

It's not the right time for a PS3 solution yet

Other Projects are more important

To hack the PS3 is much more difficult than anyone could think

Let them the time they need

Till now they've done everything they promissed and they didn't say anything explicit about a PS3 hack

They did mention explicitly there was going to be a big anouncement late februari and after that late march. It is now late april and I am still wondering what the big shocking news was.

Yes, they did. They said in mid-february that a DAT file for Argon to be installed as a drive-mod (attached to the blu-ray drive, if it's a drive mod) for PlayStation 3 was on the way, and they said that "SHOCK & BIG NEWS" were coming "very soooooooon, very veryyyyy sooooooon" (not so soon now). Check some messages up this thread where I posted a kind of "compilation" of the PS3 modchip news.

The problem is not to have or not to have a PS3 DAT for the Argon to be a drive-mod. The problem is that they asked in this thread (and others) to "stay" with them because of this "coming very soon shocking news". I bought 10 Argons (that's over 600$ where I live) fearing of a price increasing of the chip by the retailers when the PS3 big news were announced. I used a couple of them on Wii, so now I have 8 modchips from more than 2 months ago waiting for what?
I only bought 10 Argons, but other people would've bought much more quantities with the same logic as me and now we're waiting for just 1 damn word to be told.

As I said, the problem isn't the fact that we don't have a PS3 mod right now. The problem is that they hinted & confirmed in different threads that PS3 firmware was on the way and we'll have news "very soon", and more than 2 months later we have not even one word, explanation, or something similar. Just ignoring the fact. And the people who "stayed" with Argon and bought lots of them, now only want some words. I understand the firmware can take some time, but the news regarding that should've been told after they built all this hype.

Show me

maybe i've missed to read this

or did you mean this one...

PS: D2PRO sellers, what do you think about a PS3 firrmware on ARGON??? will be nice to see all WII ARGON DISTRIBUTORS UPDATE THEIR ARGON STOCK AND SELL THEM LIKE A FIRST "DRIVER MOD" FOR PS3...hahah but this is another story... probably a bullshit, probably not... only we have this information and I can only tell that many "shock" news will arrive sooon... veryy sooonn.

Than you should mabe read it the right way...

Fact is that the first priority after Wasabi Release for Infectus Team was to make the Argon (Infectus) 9 Wire Ready

Wii chips are much more common this time as a PS3 solution as no one have a solution for PS3 yet

Well, after the last update on Infectus webpage, it's almost clear that everything they claimed they had regarding PS3 was all hype to sell Argon chips at all cost.
They've removed the "PS3 Coming Soon" image of the main flash animation on the front page, and of course, no new word about the PS3 DAT File for Argon that they claimed and confirmed they were working on and were going to release "sooooon veeeeeeryyyyyy soooooon" with "shocking news soooon"
To me, the shocking news is the stinky and unspected move that Team Infectus has made. Building up hype, ask everyone to buy Argons and stay with it because there was going to be a DAT file for PS3, and now... you guessed well... nothing at all, and some of us with an overstock of Argon chipswe don't need right now but we bought because of the news and fearing for a price increasing after the news.  (but we've paid for them, of course, and maybe that's what they wanted from all of us with all these lies and silence)
