I installed the extra wires on a PAL wii today with 1.2 firmware. Still all works fine. Now just wait for the 1.3 to be released.

@sattommy, yes that's right. No need for the extra wires if you patch you iso's.

If regionfrii has the same results as the new firmware and 4 wires, why do sooooo many whine about the Argon's region compatibility?    As sattommy said, it takes a few seconds to patch the iso.    For a sec, I thought I was missing something

Nah you're right, they're just whining..

This has nothing to do with gamecube compatibility or any other future functions correct? I mean unless you want to play gc games from other regions.

Hi

i just installed a argon modchip into my wii using the beta diagram including the 4 wires
at first had a problem (no disc could be read) because point A was not connected correctly  so fixed that and checked all the others witch turned out to be ok.
my wii now can read originals but no backups (DVD-R,DVD+R using booktype DVD-ROM.
so my question is do i have an old firmware or do i need to check my sodering again?

Check your soldering and burn on good media like Verbatim.

I made my own diagram using all vias. I posted it else where here but i think more people would see it here. You need a fibreglass brush to prepare all the vias first!

When will the diagram for the Infectus chip be released (including these 4 extra wires)? I am just about to install mine and I don't want to have to reopen the WII again in the future in order to solder these 4 wires...

There will be no diagram till the software is finished.

Why can't they work out which points will be used then release a diagram? Surely it will be similar to the Argon.

At least then we could install the chips with the 4 extra wires ready to accept the update when it's available.

C'mon guys..u can't write a connection diagram before creating the firmware!
..have a little patience..it takes 15 minutes to solder 4 (or whatever) additional wires..don't stress the team so much!!

which points did you use. The picture has a mistake in them. Be sure to use the wiiktus points and ignore the bottom.
