If you have some idea to add in infectus, tell to me    For the developer version, only oscarrsm can say some thing.

what  about converting x86 tasks in vista into CELL based tasks that are optimized for the PS3??? like you execute an app on the pc then the infectus copies that task and has the ps3 run it as if it was natively running on the ps3 considering that the CELL is as reprogramable as the infectus itself.

what about the ability to replicate drivers for devices that work under windows and modding them to work with the PS3

what you are suggesting would require a full system hack to be available first, and even then the driver idea is impossible (the ps3 can only access hardware it knows, not entirely new hardware) and the code idea makes no sense, as you could just port the code directly to ps3.

I guess he is just joking. Infectus seems to be good, but not magic.

That is why the infectus is programmed to translate drivers into language ps3 knows plus if code can be directly ported to ps3 how do you port Vista(ULTIMATE) code to take advantage of the ps3's hardware without the infectus translating general purpose code into code the ps3 can recognize via a simulation app

oh geez!

you have NO clue about software, do you?
what you are proposing is completely impossible.
in order to do a port, you have to have the sourcecode. you will NEVER EVER see the vista sourcecode anywhere.

the ps3 only has development tools for the hardware it has. there is nothing a chip or whatever could translate to, unless you plan on making the ps3 recognize your pc videocard as its harddrive.

Hi Guys,

Sorry I don't know if this is the right place to post these questions please excuse me if it isn't maybe I should have started a new thread.

First of all thank you to Team Infectus er Origa Bros? for designing an exciting new modchip concept and now maybe a fpga development board?

I would appreciate it if you could tell me if the pro asic chip could be setup with a different vhdl core to act as a digital camera remote control? Can the on board usb chip go into usb master mode?

I would like to have a digital camera remote controlled through it's usb connector with shutter release, zoom in and out etc. The commands are available for free on the net to do this from a computer but I would like a smaller controller that was portable enough to be put in a pocket and could be hand held. I saw the miniamiga website and have become interested in fpgas do you think I should try to learn about vhdl or would a microcontroller like a ubicom sx28 be a better way to work with usb devices?

What prompted me to write was that I saw a picture of your mod board on the ps3 nand flasher photo and I liked your pcb design as it has a usb connector and lots of I/O pins maybe I could solder some push on switches to a few of them to control the functions I want. Also does it use much power could it run from some rechargeable batteries?

Any help appreciated

John

It will be a new modchip concept or it is only a development board?

I don't know how much take a usb core. Can be is possible or not.. depend how you write the code, what you need and much more other things.

I think fpga/cplds are not so good for you. There are many uP with usb core on board. If you use these devices, is very easy make a little interface for the usb devices.

Next version of the programmer will support also open infectus. It will be really a development board for all.  Write programs in vhdl, verilog or schematics will be easy for all. For example, students will download libero from actel site (it's free), write its program and test it on the infectus.

I appreciate your detailed reply Mr Infectus

So I can just buy the board now as it is and the new programming software will allow development cool

So where can I buy a board if I live in Australia. Is Divineo ok to order from?

I wish they'd just put a serial port on my camera for a remote would've made it much easier I think. I should just 'ghetto hack' a switch to the shutter button I don't want to kill it though cause it cost me AUD $950  IXUS300

Check the reseller section to find who is selling infectus (divineo is not a reseller).

About your project, i suggest to you to use a uP (there are many devices) with usb inside. Is easy using this way

If you wanna try an open infectus, you must write to [email protected] .

I'll check out the reseller list

Ok now the quest for a DIL or soic packaged  uC with USB master begins
again... the only micros I've really seen are pics and scenixes hmm as for making it work easy for you and OscarHS I suspect  pretty hard for me unless someone has released a compiler that lets you type in i.e.

BUTTON 01=Do Magic click shutter

I made an inquiry to buy an origachip from hardstore a few years ago and never heard anything back don't know what happened. I suppose it doesn't hurt to try again though

Its are not the only.... there are devices with  good cores  (look on infectus )

Can't wait to have one of those Homebrew infectus
I already own an FPGA dev board but Xilinx dev software is such a pain (and heavy)
I want my portable dev board
