Ok, my test continued, i can now clearly admin that PS3 save somehow the FW version that's installed and doesn't allow a downgraded firmware.

I got cold dumps from firmware versions 2.30 (i got 4 different dumps at different days to be sure) and i did the same for 2.35

I tryed to flash back 2.30 and the console turns on, read from HDD and then suddenly turns OFF with the red light blinking, when i flash 2.35 firmware it begin to works correctly.

I repeated this test on another console too and the result is the same.

I removed the HDD, the BD-ROM, the battery and the result is still the same (without these accessories and fw 2.35 console boots!).

So i can now state that the console write the latest firmware somewhere ...but i still don't know where

Hmm please explain me better, i never checked a xbox 360!

Thanks.

UPDATE:
I just searched internet, it's a fucking bad thing! And i noticed it's an IBM technology, so most probably is in the PS3 too
Every time the console change the firmware a fuse is burnt, fuses is the key to crypt the firmware in the nands, so if u restore an old one you need the old key too, but fuses changes so you're fucked

Damn ...it's weird!

What causes the fuses to be burnt now is the question? With Xbox it was determined, from the hacker who found the exploit in the kernel, to remove a resistor to prevent fuse blowing. I think it was 6R3 or something - don't matter. Likely the same setup is done on the PS3..

Hello,

does this mean the infectus chips are useless for ps3 owners atm?

I got my infectus this week, and I wanted to open my virgin EUR 1.5 PS3 to sold the chip in when I read your post NDT.
Is there a list of succesfull downgrades done with infectus?
Is there a confirmed failed downgrade with infectus yet?

thank you.

Wowww it's really uncool !!!

I was very surprised to see that i failed to flash my ps3 with my 1.51 FIRMWARE...
I dumped 1.51 a long time ago and before i try to downgrade i was on 2.35 and now i fail to flash on 1.51...

NAND0 seems to be OK on 1.51, the file compare is OK after flashing but i can't flash correctly my NAND1 (Core-OS)....

If we really have this behaviour...my ps3 will sleep a long time because i don't have a clean 2.35 Firmware.....ArrrrFFFFFF

This must be something new with the latest firmwares because infectus has a video showing a ps3 being downgraded, and other ps3 owners claimed to downgrade their ps3's.I wonder what version firmware started blowing fuses (if it is a fuse). Is it 2.30+ or lower?

I guess they patched the process from 2.17 fw version included

Unfortunatly, i'm not able to restore my 2.35 FW even if the flashing step is OK !!

My PS3 is GREEN when it power-on but nothing on screen so i don't know where the problem is...we are investigating but for the moment, i have a "bricked" PS3...but i can't consider my ps3 like a BRICK because she's on GREEN state...

I hope that we'll find a way to restore my last firmware...zouzzz have the same problem as me....
