Dear customers,

we are happy to give you a BIG news... WASABUS FIRMWARE BETA is available for first BETA TESTING...

This firmware is the first 9 WIRES WII FIRMWARE for INFECTUS2, based on the "concept" of the competitor WASABI.

Right now we tested it only on D2C consoles and we reported only a little bug that need to reset the console after a disk change...

we are working to refine the firmware and with the great help of our comunity we hope to finish BETA testing in the next few days...

When WASABUS is full working and is stable we will do the porting to ARGON SPI version... we expect to finish all this process in the nexts 10 days max.

YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THE WASABUS FIRMWARE AND DIAGRAM ALL TOGHETER IN THIS "ZIP" FILE
http://www.infectus.biz/downloads/Wasabus-beta.zip

This version work only for the infectus 1/2 with ACTEL "A3P060" (soon also for infectus 1/2 with 125 and 250)  and is right now tested on D2C only

- Load and program Wasabus.dat from the panel.
- Close the panel and program the flash with Wasabi.bin

The switch on infectus 2, must to be:
both  off     = PAL
both  on     = USA
1 off  2 on  = JAP

Let's go !!

Oscar... nice release!
But what about for DMS/D2A/D2B drivechips?

I've got a DMS version, and can't wait to try with Infectus2 - any idea when?

Are you sure you guys included the A3P060 firmware? I'm trying to load it on my Infectus1 and it keeps telling me the IDCODE is wrong:

IDCODE = 29121cf

STAPL_IDCODE = 39121cf

The IDCODE of the target device does not match the STAPL file.

This is with the 3.8 programmer. Does this firmware only work on the 3.9 programmer? I haven't started using it yet because I don't want to lose the ability to flash the older firmwares.

Also, the ZIP file isn't standard. Windows won't open it, and neither will OS X. I had to use the command line unzip program to get the files extracted.

Edit: Ok, took the jump to the 3.9 programmer and got the wasabus.dat programmed just fine. Now I'm a little unsure about how you program the flash with the wasabi.bin file. Any pointers?

You have to disconnect the infectus first and then reconnect so it recognizes it as wasabus. then some flash read and write options will appear on the "flash commands" tab

I tried but they never come up. I even reflashed the wasabus firmware again and tried again.. Just says "Chip Flash" with a checkmark next to it and "JTAG" in the Flash Commands list.

Edit: Finally got it to recognize the Flash and wrote the Wasabi.bin to Bank0. I started the Wii and tried to boot an original. It sounded like it recognized the disc, but then it just stopped spinning before it loaded on the main Wii screen. Shut it down, started it back up with a backup. Same deal. Shut it down, started it back up, disk didn't spin at all. After a couple seconds, I got a "An error has occurred. Press eject to remove the disc and then power off the Wii" message. The eject button did nothing and before I could turn off the Wii, it went completely dead. No LED, no fans, no nothing. Unplugged it, plugged it back in... nothin'. I don't have time now to see what the hell happened, but I did a quick check on the power supply and couldn't get a reading across the two pins, so perhaps that just decided to take a crap at a very unfortunate time. Don't really want to use my roommate's power supply for fear of blowing his up as well .

Anybody else have success?

Disclaimer: Don't take my post to mean there is a problem with the Wasabus firmware. I only tried it once and haven't fully tested my installation yet. All my points are correct, but there could have been overlooked problems. Just be careful when testing beta firmware

Edit (yet again): Wii is back up and running. Left it unplugged for 15 minutes and it magically came back to life. Still having the same issues. Wii Originals spin for a while, try to load, then suddenly slow down and stop. Wii Backups do similar. Surprisingly, GameCube originals work just fine. GC Backups do not.

Also, it seems like for every 3 times I turn the Wii on, the drive completely doesn't turn on 1 time.

Will recheck entire installation tomorrow.

I post also there.

For infectus 1 users:

Use pad I and G for the configuration:

Both to gnd = USA
I to GND  = JP
I and G open ( no solder to anywhere ) = PAL   (default)

No luck yet. Went over every point with a multimeter. All correct and solid connections. Grounded I and G. Same results as before, although Wii originals now work sometimes in addition to the GameCube original.

Should Wasabi.bin be flashed to bank0, bank1, or both?

FWIW, not sure if it helps: Voltages on lines:
5V - 5.02V
M and N - .02V (maybe 0 if my voltmeter's calibration is off)
O, P, Q, T, and U - all had about 3.3V
U - 1.5V or so

Fixed the disk change and now is much more stable. Tomorrow we'll release the firmware for infectus 125.

ps for infectus2 users: Blu light, some time lies

Try the new version and tell me.  The .bin must to be in bank0.

No success on the new version. If I start up the Wii with no disc in the drive, it won't accept discs after awhile (2 minutes or so). Just doesn't take the disc.  Otherwise, same issues.. Backups spin up, start reading, spin faster, read a little bit more, then slow down and stop.

Can't test anymore right now, but later tonight I'll revert back to the 13 wire install just to make sure everything's ok with the Wii and Infectus itself.

This sounds like the same problem Wasabi is having with some Wii's, mostly the A1 versions! There is a workaround for it:

We are aware of an incompatibility problem with a small percentage of drives. The LED stays red even if the install is good, and using another chip doesn't solve the problem. The current work-around to solve the problem is to connect a 47uF capacitor between GND and K point. Our technical team is working on another solution. We apologize for the inconvenience, we'll post more info when available. Thanks to Moda, jmlacroix, Frenik and Evasion for the current fix.

Interesting... I'll see what caps I have around when I get back home. Maybe Infectus could state whether it might help or not before I start adding random caps

Dont install the 47 cap.
its for the wasabi modchip not for the infectus.
If INFECTUS or OSCAR could enlighten us on that matter, before someone blows up their wii.
