TUTORIAL FOR ISTALLATION OF THE CHIP INFECTUS ON THE SAMSUNG READER
It is recently available from our sponsor Hardstore the new product of “Team Origa” which is Infectus Mod Chip
The announcement of that Chip has been broadcasted at the beginning of 2006 it is now available after many run tests and almost the complete perfection is up to date, as we can see the first sample presented were remarkable, the chip was slightly larger than a NME, to be precise it is 45 x 38 mm:

During the tests effected, the chip has been more or less redesigned to reach the final version of the following picture:

At the beginning the product version was undeveloped, and was presented in the best of its peculiarity. The PCB has been redesigned and the components have been rearranged in an enhanced technique.
Recently a second version of the chip has been produced, and has now an external USB port attached to it to enable updating of the console without having to disassemble it every time. On top of it, there is the possibility by selecting the 2 slots (Bank) which are on board of the chip and it gives the user the possibility to boot the 2 FW hack and 1 original FW, the final result of that update is the following:

This chip can be notable among its competitors Globe 360, Open 360 and NME for many ways; it’s the first compatible chip designated to be used with different systems actually on the market and even those upcoming in the future. The chip has be developed in an open and versatile approach, through an exclusive USB 2.0 interface and a well planned software for Personal Computers, it can be used for numerous applications even those being developed now. Infectus is the first chip completely programmable with different firmware.
Actually the chip development project provides the following functions:
- Xbox 360: Complete emulation Globe 360 with dual FW functionality
- Xbox 360: Complete administration in reading and reprogramming the Flash of the Xbox 360
- Xbox 360: Possibility to patch easily the Flash ID of the Drive in a way to be able to boot what ever Drive without boot failures.
- Xbox 360: Emulation NME 1.2 up to 82%
- Read and write of the Flash with the new Drives such as BENQ of Xbox 360
- Ps2: Complete emulation of the O2 Modchip which supports Ps1 e Ps2 (see www.o2mod.com)
Soon the introduction of the following characteristics which would be of support by a simple upgrading
- Xbox 360: Emulation NME 1.2 up to 82%
- PS3, the possibility to use the chip like a real programmer of BIOS PS3 Flash, with Infectus we would have the possibility to totally reprogram of the FIRMWARE PLAYSTATION3 version, downgrade and upgrade instantly without any trouble (Planned to be functional and launched by mid April 2007)
- PS3, patch in real time the firmware PS3 (still being developed)
- WII, the implementation of a complete firmware for console WII (additional functions given as freeware for testing)
The most important part the chip is the Personal Computer application software which permits the reconfiguration of the chip INFECTUS in a fast and simple way by using a USB port, this software consist of:
- The installation wizard for the process of different firmware and different console types, the software can be easily updated using the provided XML file, for the support of new firmware and software
- A software that will assist you during the installation of Infectus on the HITACHI 078: to automatically export the key and patch the new firmware, all this in a quick and detailed mode.
- For X360, the software will guide and inform you if you are using the correct firmware for your Drive.
- HELP fast online to find the firmware on the web.
CONCLUSION
The assembling on Samsung Drives is not particularly complicated, someone with a discrete experience would easily do it due to the fact that the solder dots are relatively easy and large, and the only negative fact is the removal of the black paste on the MS28 Drives. I suggest you use the Dichloromethane (can be found in solvent/paint stores) and to wait for another day after application to remove the paste. This way you will obtain a good result and avoid minor risks rather than using solvent or hot air pressure that could stick off the PCB or wipe off the SMD resistance.
Regarding the assembling on Hitachi Drives, I do not feel like expressing my enthusiasm, the fused dots are really close to each other and the glue is tough to remove (if the assembling is being done on a Hitachi 0078) this operation cannot be effected by everyone, only those with a good experience in Mod Console field can do the assembly on this kind of chip, we should keep in mind that we are actually working on a Mod of 32 wires.
For the rest, the assembling are quite long, if you have a good experience in 30-45 minutes you should be able to assemble it on a Samsung Drive, it could take you up to 1 hour if you are assembling it on a Hitachi device. The time mentioned on various web sites can be optimistic, normally only a professional person could be able to do it and surely after 5 or more tryouts.
The Infectus is definitely a high quality chip designed for “handy men” who are always looking for a good product which gives the possibility to make use of the maximum capability of the console.
Surely this product is really interesting and to be taken into consideration.
