I did a self install with poor result, so I sent the works to ?professional installer in Gainsville, FL. He says the chip is bad as a result of trying it in two drives. The retailer says they have to talk to him but he, at best, has been too busy.

I would like to get unit back in my hands and, if necessary, find another installer.
If I get it back is there some way to determine if, in fact, the chip is good or bad?

I doubt it can become defective from trying it in two consoles even with very poor installs.
I would get the stuff back and send it to someone who actually knows what he is doing
