Wonderful work! The only thing that didn't work with the 1.580 beta, the MultiBoot GC disc, is now working!
Lovely! Thanks a lot and keep it up!!

Okay, I took my Wii apart and double checked each point. There were no bridges, and there was proper connectivity between all points.
I completely removed the Argon and now when I power on my Wii I get the same results. Black screen (no "Press A" screen, nothing), and a red led on the power button after turning it off.
The
only
thing I did was flash the firmware to 1.6 while the Wii was powered on. It's pretty obvious that flashing the Argon destroyed my Wii somehow, since it was working before I flashed it, and now it is not.
So, now what? I'm out over $425 ($300 for the Wii, $125 for the modchip and programmer) and have ...nothing....
Whenever anyone has any problems with their Argon, the first thing anyone says is it's always the fault of the install. I can tell you with certainty, this install wasn't screwed up.
I'm a little angry right now, and must say I completely regret choosing the Argon for my Wii and suspect I am not the only one who feels this way.

the firmware can't damage anything. sounds more like a wire came off or you have a short somewhere.

A black screen indicates something else messed up besides the d2c chip. maybe a solder ball fell on your board somewhere and it moved around while you were moving the wii for the update and then it blew something. who knows.
Anyway it's kinda easy to blame the chip isn't it. Guess there are no possible other factors. Maybe the wii was dying on you anyway.

Theres also a possibility that you shorted something out if you connected/disconnected the programmer to the Flat Cable while the Wii was plugged in.
Did you have it unpluged?
I have never heard of a firmware update on a Modchip bricking a Wii and doubt this is the case either.
No one bent your arm to buy a Modchip anyway. Anyone knows your taking a risk when modding a system with a Modchip. If you didn't want to take that risk then you shouldn't have a Modchip in your Wii.
Did you try turning on the Wii without the DVD drive hooked up? Un hook the drive then try powering on the Wii. If it comes on then you will have to fix or replace the Wii drive. If it dosen't turn on then you have a more serious issue.

It's even easier to blame everything but the chip. I recall bad installs were being blamed for problems which were actually the result of lame firmware. Hey, maybe solder blobs are to blame for all the problems people are having with gamecube games, too. It couldn't be the chip, that would be too easy.

Theres a big difference between Wii/Game Cube compatibility and a firmware bricking a Wii. Your the first ever to claim the firmware botched your Wii.
As I said in my previous post. Did you disconnect the Wii drive and try turning on the Wii? Even if you have the Wii drive disconnected the Press A should come up and go to the Wii menu.

It's a complete copout saying a person knows they're taking a risk when modding their system, implying it's some kind of unspoken disclaimer.
Neither you or anyone else are so elite to immediately blame the user when things don't work as advertised, especially when dealing with a product which was obviously misrepresented in the first place.
I have tried it without the drive connected yielding the same result, so it looks like my Wii is toast.
Using your reasoning, it's obviously my fault, because I bought an Argon.

Its your fault because you installed a Modchip all together. You install it at your own risk. If your $300 Wii was so precious then you shouldn't have Modded it. You take that risk with any modofication you do to your system.
Even then I have never heard of any Modchip out on the market that has bricked a Wii due to a firmware update to the Modchip. You can bitch and complain all you want but I know and most others know the Modchip is not at fault.
There have been thousands of users that have updated perfectly fine and I have never heard of an issue of the update bricking a Wii. Other issues yes but your the first to claim the update bricked your Wii. I find that very doubtful to believe since there has not been any other reports of this happening.

Just because I'm the first person you have heard of to have this problem in the Argon/Injectus very short lifespan does not mean I am the only one who has or will. The first ones who installed their Argon were initially also told the FMV freezing and DRE problems were their own fault. Whether you have heard of this happening before or not with the Argon is immaterial and does not belay the fact it has happened and all signs point to updating the firmware as causing the problem.
Blaming the end user for installing a mod chip and having their system not work is no different than blaming people who believed and ordered away for carburetors advertised to deliver 100mpg or allow their car to run on water finding they destroyed their engine or it did not perform as advertised.

Wimper can you explain exactly what happened? Did you have a disc into the wii while you updated it? After updating did you try a game or did you reboot? Did you try to play a game of other region and press 'update the wii' ??

Dear customers,
we’re glad to announce the ARGON 1.6 firmware OUT! ARGON with 1.6 firmware is now a perfect chip for Nintendo Wii at all.

3- SILVER BACKUP feature
*the backup test has been done on SSBB DVD9 with IMGBURN software, setting the preferences as “layerbreak 2084960”.
WIIKTUS 1.6 firmware is at work... we expect to release it during next week, don't worry INFECTUS2 users..
REMEMBER that:
1- ARGON is the ONLY chip that is updatable. Updating ACTEL chips is not that simple, actually any different chip has a correct updating system. A great updating system is so much important, GET THE BEST ALWAYS!!
2- The INFECTUS community has got 1200 users now, it’s one of the biggest community around a Wii project. This will guarantee velocity and reliability realising ARGON updates.

@ Wimper
i have installed hundreds of these argons and never killed a wii. start searching for a solution other than thinking the chip killed your console. I too have updated and sometimes wii stops working, its just a coincedence, it happens. Check wires and i find one of the wires has lifted or something....
now to troubleshoot. does you wii dvd drive still eject properly? does it function normally only no screen?
have you tried another AV cable? try everything else to get your video working , you never know....

I thought it was necessary to have the wii turned on during a firmware update to power the chip. It isn't? I don't have my injectus yet.
