Great work!

FW 1.6 and 1.5b:
Unfortunately none of the originals works (e.g. Wii Sports). After 2nd boot it spins high speed for max 2 secs and  than it stops.
Backups on Verbatim DVD-R works fine.
Programming again does not solve this issue. FW 1.5b also accepts TDK DVD-RW 1.6 not.
Doesn’t try DL or silver.

FW 1.4:
Backups oke (only Verbatim DVD-R no +R or -RW)
Originals oke
Doesn’t try DL or silver.

This is way I love the Argon! Easily switch between new and old versions.

What to do next?

Well it's a good update, all of my orignal games (GC and WII) are working on my PAL WII but All of my GC backup continue to freeze (RE 0 PAL, Sonic adventure battle 2 PAL, Zelda Twilight princess PAL, and baten kaitos PAL) . So the support of GC games (backup)  is not perfect yet.
A good point of this update : my games are  recognized faster than the 1.4.
But the team is very efficient and I beleive in their talent.

Sorry Infectus but by the first posts under this threat can i see that the GC Backup Problem with the Argon and FW: 1.6 is not really fix.

It is a good work but not the final solution und not the promise from your first post here or do you mean Original DVD´s?

1-   GAME CUBE’s games totally supported

Infectus make a good job and i hope the problem with GC Backups is fixed in the next time.

thx

Pal wii with 1.6 firmware.
wii games play fine. had some audio issues in mario galaxy in the intro.
fixed that by reburning with higher speed (4x).
game cube games dont even show up in the disc channel with my minidiscs.
reburned them onto normal dvd verbatim -r and now they show up.
Mario sunshine i can play for a while but it hangs after 10 min.

Hope this helps.

Good point, Sometimes you have to read between the lines. Clearly Gamecube backups are not working very good still. They must mean orignals are working perfect only.
Glad i don't care about gamecube games much.

1. SMG PAL 4x ImgBurn Verbatim dvd-r
Boots 1x then blackscreen eject screen remove disc
2. Rattatouille USA 4x ImgBurn Verbatim dvd-r
Boots 1x then blackscreen eject screen remove disc
3. Wii sports PAL original works fine

Removed 4 wires.
Reflashed with v1.2
Offcourse Rattatouille doesn't work but everything else does.

I was thinking the same thing but then i thought about it some more. What they must  mean by Final is that this is a good version for installers to provide to thier customers. Beta versions are best installed just for testing and to provide feedback.

What is still scarring me is that the install diagram is called "WII 13 + 4 WIRES DIAGRAM BETA  AVAILABLE"
Note the word BETA!

If/When a wire gets changed or added and everyone starts whinning you know we are going to get told "We said it was beta"

I put the 1.6 firmware on my Argon while it was powered up (it was getting the The IDCODE of the target device does not match the STAPL file error when trying to program, didn't get error while it's powered on)).

Anyway, after applying the update, now when I turn on my Wii I'm met with a black screen.

When I hold down the power on the front panel, I get a red light on the power button.

Did the 1.6 firmware bitch my Wii or my Argon?

the firmware can't damage anything. sounds more like a wire came off or you have a short somewhere.

The 13+4 Diagram is no longer beta anymore. If you look in the download section, they removed the information about the diagram being beta, and waiting for more test results. Team Infectus has done a great job thus far. These firmware updates are getting released quicker and quicker.

I can honestly say that I am glad that I got an Argon chip. I was a little worried at first, but the updates keep rolling along, and they keep you updated.

Some of my GC games still don't work, but I think that after enough testing and FEEDBACK from users, we will all end up with an even better chip

v1.6 works fine without the 4+ wires installed.

When 4+ are installed its only booting once and then black eject screen.
